The first record of the weekend at the Indonesian GP has been broken. Collin Veijer achieved the fastest lap ever in Moto3 at Mandalika this Friday, leading Practice 1.

After the initial flying laps, the leader was Filippo Fariolli (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda), who was soon beaten. With his second lap, Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) took the lead for the first time.

The Dutch rider solidified his position, but after four minutes, he was overtaken by Matteo Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda). Veijer regained the lead, only to lose it again to Luca Lunetta. The Italian from SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda held the top position for nearly a quarter of an hour.

In his final laps, Veijer was clearly the fastest, entering the 1m37s range before confirming a new record at 1m37.942s. Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) finished second, just 0.154s behind, followed by David Almansa (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) and Bertelle.

Lunetta rounded out the top five. As for the championship leader, David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar) was able to return to the track after a heavy fall in the free practice session. However, he only managed to secure 13th place, 0.930s off Veijer’s pace.
