Collin Veijer was in great form in the second Moto3 practice session of the Indian GP. He led a good part of this afternoon’s session at the Buddh International Circuit, being one of the two to lap below two minutes per lap.
The initial leader of P2 was Jaume Masiá (Leopard Racing/Honda), ahead of Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP). This way, the Spaniard continued to show strength, following his display of superiority in P1.
Less than 41 minutes before the end, José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) dethroned Masiá. At this stage, Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) was in third, showing significant improvements compared to the morning session.
Shortly after, Veijer also surpassed Masiá, who suffered a minor fall with 35 minutes to go. Veijer was the next man in the lead, beating Rueda… before setting the best time of the day so far. While the Dutchman stayed in the lead, Rueda would be overtaken by Masiá and Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP).
In a strong performance, Veijer continued to improve, being the first to lap below 2m00s – just as Masiá did later, placing himself 0.186s behind. Nothing changed in these first two positions until the end.
Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team/KTM) finished third, with the top five closed by David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar) and Riccardo Rossi (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda). Holgado could only manage 13th.
