The second round of the AMA Pro Motocross season took place this Saturday. This time, Sacramento hosted the championships at Hangtown Motocross Classic, with Chase Sexton (450MX) and Haiden Deegan (250MX) emerging as the winners.
In 450 MX, the main category, Hunter Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) started the first race with the holeshot and led for a good part of the race. However, three laps from the end, he was overtaken by Sexton (Red Bull KTM) and couldn’t respond to his rival, finishing second 7.981s behind. Jason Anderson (Monster Energy Kawasaki) beat Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) in the battle for third place.
In the second race, Cooper took the holeshot, although by the end of the first lap it was Aaron Plessinger in the lead. The Red Bull KTM rider had a lead of over eight seconds at one point, but on the final lap, he was passed by Sexton and saw his teammate win with a 0.999s lead. Cooper finished third, Lawrence fourth, and Anderson fifth.
In the overall standings for this round, Sexton was the winner with the maximum points (50 points), ahead of Lawrence who collected 40 points. Plessinger was third with 39 points.
As for the 250 MX, Chance Hymas (Team Honda HRC) was the main protagonist of the first race, taking the holeshot and leading for the first 14 laps… until he was overtaken by Deegan (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing), who pulled away to win with a 1.719s lead over his rival. Levi Kitchen (Monster Energy Pro Circuit) finished third.
Tom Vialle (Red Bull KTM) finished fourth in this first race, but in the second he would do much better. After taking the holeshot, Deegan led a good part of the race, but gave in on lap 11. Vialle took advantage, took the lead and never let go, winning with a 4.981s margin over Deegan. Kitchen was third.
In the overall standings of the two races, Deegan was the winner of the round with 47 points, against Vialle’s 43. Kitchen completed the top three with 40 points, the same as Hymas.
