Massimo Meregalli, Team Director of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, described the French Grand Prix as one of the most chaotic races of the season. Rain before the start turned the event into a real gamble for both riders and teams.

‘Rain falling right before the start is always tricky. It makes tyre choice an absolute gamble,’ he said. Meregalli admitted it took some time for the race to settle down, and when it did, Álex Rins showed maturity on track. ‘The conditions were changeable throughout the 26 laps. He had to decide, lap by lap, where the limit was and how much he could push.’

Despite the challenges, Rins finished 12th — a result the team sees as positive. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo, racing on home soil, crashed out: ‘Our hearts go out to Fabio. It’s understandable that he’s frustrated, but he showed brave riding on the opening lap.’

Meregalli pointed out there were still positive signs: ‘In the past, we’ve struggled in similar mixed conditions, but Fabio was competitive until his crash. That’s encouraging for future wet races.’
