Yamaha rider claims dominant 1-1 finish at Thunder Valley after missing second moto at previous round

Chance Hymas staged a triumphant return to AMA Pro Motocross in the 250 class, securing a dominant 1-1 victory at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Colorado. The Yamaha rider, who was unable to participate in the second moto of the previous round due to food poisoning, showed he was fully recovered by setting a devastating pace in both motos.

Haiden Deegan soars to historic heights, conquering Southwick with epic back-to-back victories like a legend

Haidyn Deegan reigns supreme at Southwick National Pro Motocross, dominating like a force of nature

In the first 250 class moto, Hymas grabbed the holeshot ahead of Tom Vialle, Haiden Deegan, and Mikkel Haarup. The Yamaha rider quickly opened a two-second lead at the front, while Deegan passed Vialle with a power move on the outside in the mechanics’ area. Vialle’s race became complicated when he was passed by both Haarup and Ty Masterpool, dropping from second to fourth place in just a few sections.

Hymas benefited from a mistake by Deegan that allowed him to extend his lead to over five seconds, and when his main rival began experiencing overheating issues with his YZ250F, the team advised Deegan to ease up and be gentle with the clutch. This situation allowed Hymas to open a crushing 34-second lead with three laps to go, crossing the finish line with a final margin of 45.677 seconds over Deegan – the largest gap recorded in any SMX race this season.

Garrett Marchbanks delivered an excellent recovery to finish third in the first moto after a poor start, nearly catching Deegan in the final meters. In the second moto, Hymas again grabbed the holeshot and controlled the race from start to finish, benefiting from a small tip-over by Deegan that gave him the space needed to manage his advantage to the checkered flag.

The overall 250 class podium was completed with Hymas in first position, Deegan in second, and Levi Kitchen in third, who benefited from his battle with Jo Shimoda for the final podium spot in the second moto. With this result, Hymas demonstrated that his health issue from the previous round is definitively behind him and that he remains one of the main title contenders in the 250 class.
