Marc Márquez’s move from Honda to Gresini Racing is undoubtedly the most impactful change in MotoGP in recent years, considering that the Spanish rider is a multiple champion with Repsol Honda Team and one of the most iconic and controversial riders in the category.
There were many rumors and speculations before the team change was confirmed, but it quickly became clear that Gresini could indeed be the final destination for the former world champion. Carmelo Ezpeleta believes that this was the best decision that #93 could have made.
In words to Mundo Deportivo, the CEO of Dorna once again commented on the choice made by Álex Márquez’s brother, who is now a teammate of the new Gresini rider: ‘Of course, it is not bad for the championship, and I think it is good for Marc. He made the decision, and I think it was very well thought out. I have a lot of confidence in his analysis of the issues, and I think that if he believes he should do it, it is certainly the best path he could have taken.’
Marc’s first contact with the Desmosedici was even more significant, with the Spanish rider standing out in the Valencia test and not hiding his smiles. Although his performance in the following tests was more discreet, many believe it to be a “tactic” from one of the strongest players in the mental game that the championship has seen.
