With only five riders under contract, the MotoGP transfer market for 2025 is the subject of increasing speculation. It is expected that movements will begin in the coming months and there may even be surprising changes.
Carlos Checa analyzed the situation in an interview with the website Motosan.es, starting by stating: ‘I think there are rumors, but rumors with foundation. There is talk of Fabio [Quartararo] with Aprilia, which is evident because I think he needs the possibility of being in the front and right now it’s either Ducati, Aprilia, or at most KTM, we’ll see. But, of course, Yamaha and Honda are currently far behind and I don’t know if they will be able to recover in a year’.
Currently at the end of his contract, Quartararo is dissatisfied with the poor competitiveness of Yamaha. However, he has also been encouraged by the change in mentality and approach within the Iwata manufacturer to try to recover good performances – although, even with the concessions, the process is slow.
Ducati has been the benchmark manufacturer, but only Francesco Bagnaia is confirmed in the factory team for 2025. The other seat has several contenders: Enea Bastianini, who currently occupies it, but also riders like Jorge Martín or Marc Márquez. Checa commented that it could be a key in the rider market: ‘Then we will see who inherits the most desired position, which is the second Ducati bike. There are several candidates and very interesting ones. I think that when that piece moves, the others will move as well‘.
