The tire pressure became a topic of conversation again at the Malaysian MotoGP, with several riders receiving warnings for violating the minimum limit set. One of them was Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), the championship leader, so he cannot commit any more infractions until the end of the season or else he will be penalized.
Carlo Pernat was critical of this rule, stating to the website GPOne.com that it limits the potential of the riders, the penalties are too severe, and it may even influence the title fight:
– I think it’s a stupid rule that limits the potential of the riders, and the penalties are too harsh, from three to nine seconds, with still four races to go [including the Sprints]. This rule can play a big role in the title fight, but it has been in effect for several races already.
