This year, the MotoGP World Championship will have 20 rounds – unlike the 21 originally planned, due to the cancellation of the Kazakhstan GP. For next year, the record number of rounds could even be reached, with 22 in prospect.
According to Crash.net, Kazakhstan is expected to make its debut next year, but there is also the possibility of Aragon returning – without necessarily costing the place of another Spanish round despite the rotation agreement also signed by Barcelona, Jerez, and Valencia.
If the calendar returns to having four Spanish rounds, with the debut of Kazakhstan also taking place, the calendar would be 22 rounds – an absolute record, which would represent 44 races due to the sprints. And with other countries interested in joining in the near future, such as Saudi Arabia, it is not expected that the size will decrease in the coming years.
