About a year later, Cal Crutchlow is finally set to ride a MotoGP bike again, in his role as Yamaha’s test rider. The Briton suffered serious injuries in 2024.

The Iwata manufacturer has two days of private testing in Valencia, this Tuesday and tomorrow. Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha’s management director, told SPEEDWEEK.com:

– Finally, Cal is 100% recovered from his hand injury. He hasn’t ridden in a long time, but his test rider duties will now begin again. He will take part in the testing program alongside Augusto [Fernández].

The injuries he sustained early last year kept Crutchlow from riding not only in tests, but also in wildcard appearances that had been planned – he ended up being replaced by Remy Gardner.

After such a long absence, the #35 will not only have to get familiar with a very different YZR-M1 compared to the last time he rode, but also regain the feeling of riding a MotoGP bike.
