After a year in which it proved to be very competitive and fought for the MotoGP title, led by Fabio Quartararo, the truth is that Yamaha showed much more difficulties. Cal Crutchlow seems to know what it takes for the team to return to the top, and had no doubts in talking about… the lack of more Yamahas on track.
The manufacturer’s test rider spoke with Jack Appleyard (Dorna) about some of the current topics in the category, and did not miss the opportunity to talk about how Yamaha is more limited compared to some of the competition: ‘What Yamaha lacks are bikes on the track. We have two bikes [from the factory team], so we have to do as many tests as possible in the pre-season, while in recent seasons we didn’t. I think that really hurts the guys when they get to the first race.’
The Brit also highlighted the great influence that Ducati currently has in the paddock: ‘The other manufacturers have up to eight bikes circulating at the same time and test riders. I hope we can start better next year’.
