Buell Motorcycle Co. achieved great success in early 2023 when they unveiled the Super Cruiser 1190, a special model designed in collaboration with legendary motorcycle designer Roland Sands. The bike was first revealed in February 2023, and Buell began accepting pre-orders for the bike shortly after. As it turned out, there is a high demand, as Buell announced there has been “unprecedented support” for their new model.
There is no doubt that Buell can manufacture high-performance motorcycles. We saw this with the brand’s comeback in 2021, when they unveiled the Hammerhead 1190, the “fastest production motorcycle in America.” That being said, the Super Cruiser, designed with Roland Sands, also promises uncompromising performance, but with a more road-oriented nature. According to the company, the Super Cruiser seamlessly combines elements of a sportbike with a cruiser, resulting in a ride that is both engaging and comfortable.
Just six months after opening pre-orders for the Super Cruiser, Buell has already accumulated an impressive $120 million in pre-orders, demonstrating the interest that the new model has generated. According to Bill Melvin, Buell’s CEO, the demand for the new model marks a milestone for American V-Twins: “Americans love style, power, and performance. The Super Cruiser revolutionizes the model for all three, and the response shows that Buell hit the nail on the head. This is absolutely unprecedented for an American V-Twin.” When the bike goes into production in 2025, it is expected to have a retail price between $20,000 and $30,000.
As for performance, the Buell Super Cruiser is powered by an engine found in the Hammerhead 1190 sports bike. Inside the bike’s frame is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 1,190 cc twin-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 175 hp and 136.9 Nm. It has 17-inch wheels, fully adjustable suspension, and even adjustable handlebars and footrests, so you can tailor the ergonomics exactly to your liking. The weight on the scale is 204.1 kg, which is surprisingly light for its power class and for an American V-twin.
