Mahindra 2 Wheelers, the motorcycle division of the Mahindra automotive group, created in 2008, acquired the historic and important B.S.A. brand in 2016 for 3.4 million pounds in England. They then launched a brand relaunch project with a model called “Gold Star,” a 650 single-cylinder inspired by the name and appearance of the fastest single-seater of the late 1950s: the DBD 34 Gold Star, capable, at the time, of reaching 180 km/h.
To better manage product distribution, the Indian company acquired Peugeot Motorcycle in Europe and then sold a large part to another European company in Germany. Now, the challenge, in a world where communication techniques change at an exponential rate, is to reach users, the public, potential buyers, to address the market.
The new Gold Star, offered in various colors, presents itself as a post or instant classic due to its undeniably attractive appearance, but with mechanics and a frame in line with public expectations. The single-cylinder four-valve engine, with double overhead camshaft and counter-balanced crankshaft, liquid-cooled, delivers 45 hp at 6500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 55 Nm expressed at 4000 rpm, ensuring unexpected thrust.
The frame can rely on an excellent suspension system and quick and efficient braking. Finally, fuel consumption and operating costs are low. A good aesthetic and technical option with added value: a truly legendary brand that has finally been resurrected.
