Today was a less happy day for Brad Binder and much due to… the high speed. The South African had trouble slowing down the bike, which made it difficult for him to enter the corners, but he emphasized in the end that this situation served as another learning experience for the team.
In analyzing his day, the KTM rider talked about the Warm Up and how he believed he had resolved some less positive situations, something that did not turn out to be true in the race: ‘Today was a somewhat complicated race. In the Warm Up we tried some things that worked very well […]. In the race, I had difficulties stopping the bike at all braking points, and I felt that I was never able to slow down the speed and if you don’t brake well, you don’t turn well and today what I struggled with the most was the constant loss of the front of the bike. It was difficult to manage that at the beginning, I tried to be patient, understand what was happening and if it would improve during the race, but I didn’t get that far…’.
Binder explained later that the failure was crucial: ‘I ended up losing control of the bike after nine or ten laps and it was basically the end of the day, not much to say. Yesterday we had a lot of rear wheel lock coming from the bike, the engine braking didn’t work well or at least it wasn’t working as well as we would like […]’
The high temperature on the asphalt was decisive: ‘With the track temperature over 20ºC it seems that it doesn’t work and complicates everything, but I believe that despite everything it was a good day of learning for us. We know which direction to take when things don’t work as well as they did here’.
