BMW has officially registered the trademark for the name R20, signaling the potential launch of a new model derived from the R20 Concept unveiled this past May.
According to Cycle World, the Bavarian manufacturer filed its first application during the same week it revealed the concept version. However, publication only occurred after the trademark rights were granted. BMW is now undergoing similar processes in other countries.
Not everything seen in the R20 Concept may make it to the production model. The concept featured a 2,000cc Big Boxer engine, a tubular steel main frame, 17-inch wheels, fully adjustable Öhlins front fork and rear suspension, and an aluminum swingarm.
Some changes are expected, such as the addition of a rear fender to comply with European regulations or adjustments to the unconventional parallel swingarm design.
