Electric scooters have become a common mobility alternative in countries like India. In a country where fuel is heavily taxed and the average salary is around €10,966.92 per year, it makes perfect sense for the population to seek affordable and economical transportation.
In recent years, new and interesting offerings in the electric mobility space have emerged, many of which focus on utility, functionality, and accessibility, while also including technological features that make these two-wheeled vehicles, which would otherwise be similar to household appliances, feel a bit more special. We’ve already seen this with new players like Ola Electric and Ather Energy, but established players are also unwilling to be left behind. For the year 2024, Bajaj, one of the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturers in terms of volume, has launched a highly anticipated update of the Chetak electric scooter.
For 2024, the Bajaj Chetak will be offered in two variants: Premium and Urbane. Overall, the Chetak focuses on affordability and an accessible price.
Bajaj has introduced a series of premium features that put the Chetak on par with some of its competitors. For example, it receives a new five-inch TFT display that gives it a certain modern character. On the performance side, Bajaj has increased the power to provide the scooter with a maximum speed of 73 km/h. As for the range, drivers don’t need to worry about running out of power when driving in the city, as the 2024 Chetak promises up to 127 km of range on a single charge. The Premium trim model also has a built-in 800 W fast charger.
Other amenities of the Bajaj Chetak 2024 include auto-cancel indicators, left and right control switches, and a convenient electronic lock for added security. The storage compartment under the seat can also be accessed with a switch, and speaking of which, Bajaj has increased the storage capacity to provide some extra functionality for urban users.
