There is the first round of the Moto3 World Championship in 2024 and starting with this one always full of excitement and uncertainty until the final seconds! David Alonso won in Qatar after taking the lead in the last corner of the last lap.
All set for the first round of the year in Moto3, where Daniel Holgado starts from pole position, with Ivan Ortolá and José Antonio Rueda on the front row. Remember that this year brings a novelty, with Pirelli tires.
Seconds before the start, David Muñoz was forced to start from the pit lane and despite initially showing some resistance and not wanting to comply with the regulations, he ended up starting from the back.
After the rider effectively left the grid, the race began and Holgado made the most of the pole position to lead right away in Losail. Rueda and Adrián Fernández were fighting for second place, but with positions constantly changing, it was Rueda who led the race, with Holgado in second and Ortolá in third. David Alonso was fourth and A. Fernández fifth.
And in the first sector of the second lap, the first fall of the year occurred, for Ortolá and Rueda, who were involved in a crash. Despite this, Ortolá stayed on track while Rueda ended his GP.
The one who took advantage the best was Holgado, who was leading in Qatar with 0.059s over Alonso and 0.156s over Fernández. Colin Veijer and Joel Kelso closed the top five.
Then came another fall with two riders, Filippo Farioli and Matteo Bertelle.
Meanwhile, there was a change at the front with Taiyo Furusato moving up to first place, but in the third sector of the eighth lap, Holgado regained the lead in the race.
Riccardo Rossi reached third place, but Fernández attacked and returned to third place. 0.135s was the gap separating Holgado from his closest competition, still the rider from Honda Team Asia.
Assim estava o top dez a cinco voltas do final:
