Aprilia will have three current motorcycles in MotoGP from the beginning of the season. Two belong to the factory team riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, and the other belongs to Miguel Oliveira from Trackhouse Racing – whose teammate, Raúl Fernández, will start the year with last season’s version.
When asked if this year’s RS-GP bikes will all be identical, the rider from Almada replied: ‘Good question, I believe so. Raúl, obviously, will be a bit different, but let’s say the main bike will be the same‘.
Oliveira then explained why the specifications will be similar: ‘At the moment, it’s difficult to come in and put on an aerodynamic package without working on the bike that is suddenly better. I think it’s very difficult to achieve that, so I believe that at this moment the 2023 bike is probably more balanced, but I think the 2024 one has some untapped potential. We don’t know what the bike can actually do, so we just have to go to the track and find out‘.
