For the second time in five days, José Ignacio Cornejo won a stage in Dakar 2024, now the fourth one that took place this Tuesday. The Monster Energy Honda rider beat teammate Ricky Brabec by 2m59s and is now the new leader of the overall classification with a 1m15s advantage over Ross Branch (Hero MotoSports)-
The Chilean said to the official race website that he was pleased with his performance, despite making some mistakes at the beginning: ‘The stage went well. At the beginning, I made some small navigation errors and thought I had lost some time, so I tried to attack hard to recover. But then, at the refueling, I realized that I was doing very well. I am happy with the driving, with the navigation. I drove for a while with Ross and I think he may have gotten stuck or fallen in the dunes at the beginning because he was a little behind afterwards. I hope he is okay‘.
Cornejo concluded: ‘Overall, I think it was a solid day. At the refueling, we didn’t know what happened to all the other riders. I don’t know if they got lost or if someone fell‘.
