Last year, the number of crashes decreased in the Moto2 World Championship compared to the previous season. However, one rider – Arón Canet – came close to matching the number of incidents suffered by Marc Márquez in MotoGP.
Data published by the Motosan website shows that Moto2 had 344 crashes in 2023, compared to 428 in the previous year. There were also fewer chances of crashing with the elimination of the warm-up. All sessions, from practices to races, are included.
Canet (Pons Wegow Los40/Kalex) was the one who crashed the most, 24 times – the same as Joan Mir (Repsol Honda). Only Marc Márquez (29) is ahead of both in the overall count of all World Championships. When considering only Moto2, the second highest number of crashes was by Alonso López (SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) with 21, followed by Jake Dixon (GasGas Aspar/Kalex) with 18 incidents.
