Marco Bezzecchi tested Aprilia’s new aerodynamic fairing at Aragon but admitted he doesn’t know if the updates will be homologated this season. The rider saw improvements but also trade-offs.

When asked whether the new aero package could be homologated during the current season, Bezzecchi replied: ‘Oh, I have no idea. I mean, I hope – if we decide after this test that it’s competitive, then yes. But I don’t know, you have to speak with Fabiano Sterlacchini or the engineers’.

Bezzecchi didn’t give away much detail but was clear about the benefits: ‘It’s better. I can’t tell you more than this. It’s better, of course’. However, he acknowledged the usual trade-offs: ‘As every piece, it brings some positives and some negatives’.

His answer suggests that Aprilia is still weighing the benefits and drawbacks of the new parts before any decisions. Bezzecchi seemed cautious, but hopeful the update could be seen in race weekends soon.

The Italian rider ended the Aragon test in second, reinforcing the notion that the aero evolution might indeed represent a performance step forward for Aprilia Racing.
