Despite considering that the Aprilia RS-GP has improved considerably for the 2024 MotoGP season, Aleix Espargaró is also aware that the bike still has some limitations that prevent it from being at the level of Ducati.
The performance of the engine in terms of torque and power is one of the areas that the Spanish rider highlighted. Espargaró was asked when he expects to have the improvements he needs. In his response, he admitted that it won’t be easy, but praised the progress made in recent years.
“That’s a question that they need to ask Romano” [Albesiano, technical director]. “It’s going to be very difficult. During the winter, I talked a lot with Romano. He never told me the exact power number that Aprilia has, but he told me that we are at very high numbers compared to four or five years ago; they never expected to reach these numbers. But he acknowledges that it’s not enough, so hopefully they can improve. But it won’t be easy.”
