Right after the MotoGP French GP, the main topic of conversation became the rumours casting serious doubt on Jorge Martín’s future with Aprilia – despite barely having raced with the RS-GP.

The first half of the calendar year has been marked by several injuries for the Spaniard, who has only competed in the Qatar GP. However, according to Motorsport.com, he is reportedly considering activating the performance clause that allows him to leave Aprilia at the end of the year if he was not among the front-runners in the championship after the French GP.

Given the injuries that kept him out of all rounds so far – except for the Qatar GP, where he was injured again – questions may arise regarding the validity of that clause. But there is also speculation in Spain that Martín has given Aprilia six more races – the team has not shown itself capable of fighting for podiums.

According to Crash.net, the Noale manufacturer was contacted, but declined to comment on the recent rumours. The departure of the 2024 champion would be a major blow to Aprilia’s project, which is committed to battling at the top of MotoGP and would be left with few (if any) viable alternatives on the market.

As for Martín, there is speculation that the rider is eyeing a possible move to Honda HRC Castrol – where Luca Marini is nearing the end of his contract. However, the Japanese manufacturer is not expected to make any offers while the rider remains under contract.
