The Kazakhstan GP has suffered another setback for its MotoGP debut. After being postponed from 2023 to 2024, it is now delayed to an earlier phase of this year due to the floods that have affected Central Asia.
This would have been the eighth round of the season, from June 14 to 16, and the new dates have not yet been announced. The floods are a national emergency in Kazakhstan and have left many people displaced from their homes.
MotoGP understands that ‘it would not be responsible to add any additional burden to the authorities or services as they work to help the tens of thousands of people affected by the country’.
In a statement, the championship also expresses ‘condolences and support to the people of Kazakhstan and all those affected by the floods in Central Asia’. It should be noted that the Kazakhstan GP, whose new dates will be announced later, will take place at the Sokol circuit.
