At 27 years old, Andrea Locatelli is facing his fourth season in the World Superbike Championship, always with the Pata Prometeon Yamaha team. Over the years, he has achieved several podium finishes, including two second places at the Phillip Island round that kicked off the 2024 season. Team manager Andrea Dosoli is pleased with what he sees in his rider.
The manager was quoted by the Corse di Moto website saying: ‘He took a big step forward. This was not only reflected in his performance, but for me the most important aspect was his approach to the weekend. Before traveling to Phillip Island, Andrea and his chief mechanic, Tom O’Kane, had a very clear goal in mind: they wanted to win a race, and their performances on track showed that they can achieve it’.
Dosoli has no doubts that Locatelli now has a winning mentality: ‘He showed a new level of maturity, because throughout the weekend he showed a winning mentality, he is thinking like a winner. It is a combination of steps taken by him, but also of what he learned from the new chief mechanic. It’s just a matter of time until he gets his first victory in WorldSBK’.
But the Yamaha leader even anticipates something bigger for Locatelli: ‘The most important thing is that he showed his potential to fight at the front. Locatelli could be a title contender this year’.
