Andrea Iannone is counting the minutes and seconds to return to competition, something that has not happened for four years due to a positive doping test. The Italian rider will participate in the next edition of the WorldSBK championship with the GoEleven team, backed by Ducati and managed by Gianni Ramello.
‘The tests in Jerez were a positive sign. I am happy with the feelings I had, but I definitely cannot relax, because we have ahead of us a very beautiful, complex, and challenging season. I already knew it would be like this before starting, but I had that confirmation on the track. Without a doubt, we are here to try and within me, I have a strong desire to get involved. I have always done everything very naturally. I would wake up in the morning, train, and everything would happen normally. If it had been the other way around, I probably wouldn’t be here today. For me, the best thing has always been to follow this method to be where I am right now. I just want to keep riding and try to give something, so far, my priority is to continue enjoying it,’ he recalled, in an interview with the GPOne portal.
‘I was with the same desire I had when I was a kid and laughed. I enjoyed this moment as if it had been the first, knowing that it will not always be like this in the future. The race in Jerez was an exception and it was beautiful to have experienced it, moreover, no one expected anything from me, when things are like this, you just think about driving and nothing else. From one moment to the next, everything in life can change. Sometimes, not thinking about it, you believe that it only happens to others, but it’s not always like that. I am a romantic by nature, I like to be positive, because that gives me energy. Many times, things have no explanation’, added Andrea, who does not forget the support he received from Ducati during this long period when he was away from the tracks.
‘Dall’Igna is a very important person for me. He allowed me to win my first race in MotoGP. I have immense respect for him, the same goes for Ciabatti, Domenicali and Go Eleven. Without the support of Ducati, everything would have been even more complex. We will all try together to do a good job so that we both grow’, he concluded.
