We are just a few hours away from seeing Andrea Iannone return to the world, now competing in the Superbike World Championship, in a very different category from what he was used to. The rider goes without expectations but with a lot of emotion, and has the top ten as his goal.
Before the start of the action, the Team GoEleven rider said: ‘I don’t know what to expect because everything is new to me. I think the format is completely different; I talked to my team boss and he explained the rules, how to start the championship, and everything. Anyway, I’m very excited. It’s a strange feeling to be back, but I’m happy to be back with you, with the riders, etc. This is what I liked my whole life’.
He then recalled his preparation for the start of real action, adding: ‘The preseason wasn’t bad. I’m a little surprised because the overall speed is high. We weren’t sure at first because I wasn’t riding racing bikes but, anyway, it was a good preseason for us’.
As for his goals, the Italian was clear: ‘We want to try to fight with the best riders, but our goal is the top ten positions. Step by step, we have to improve and in each race, we will improve’.
