Andrea Iannone, back in the world of racing and currently in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), made a bold prediction about Marc Márquez’s impact on Ducati in the upcoming 2024 MotoGP season. Iannone believes that Márquez will cause a ‘disaster’ for Ducati right from the first race.
Iannone’s comments come in the wake of Márquez’s first tests with Ducati Gresini in Valencia, which have already sparked discussions among MotoGP observers. Dani Pedrosa, another MotoGP veteran, also noted the renewed competition in the series with the return of the now former Honda rider.
Iannone, known as ‘Maniac’, was explicit in his opinions during an interview with MCN. He stated that Marquez’s racing style is to create chaos, which he believes will be particularly disruptive for Ducati. Iannone criticized Marquez’s attitude towards his teammates, especially during qualifying sessions, stating that Marquez gets angry when others use the same strategies as him. Iannone acknowledged Ducati’s experience in managing riders, but warned that if Marquez goes too far, it could be detrimental to him. He also mentioned other Ducati riders like Bezzecchi, Bagnaia, Martin, and Morbidelli, who will join Pramac as key figures next season. Iannone’s comments raise expectations for the 2024 MotoGP season, where Marquez’s performance and impact on Ducati will be closely watched. Iannone himself will be a Ducati rider in the WSBK with the GoEleven team.
