This year, Álvaro Bautista had a devastating performance in the World Superbike Championship, only losing nine races. However, there were triumphs that were more special and important than others.
Such was the case of the one he achieved right in the first race of the year at Phillip Island, as the Aruba.it Ducati rider told the championship website:
– It started raining before the race. I think many people thought that if it were dry I would have been very fast and would have won, but in rainy conditions they thought: ‘I have a chance to beat Álvaro’. For me, winning that race was really important and a bigger sign to say that I was there, no matter the conditions or situation, I was there to win.
