Álvaro Bautista completed the second day of testing for the World Superbike Championship at Jerez on Wednesday. One of the big challenges for him will be adapting to the new minimum weight requirement for bike + rider, as he is one of the lightest in the field.
The Aruba.it Ducati rider said in a statement that this was precisely his focus during the second day at Jerez, explaining the challenges that the weight issue entails:
– Today we were focused on the 2024 regulations, especially regarding weight. We tried out various solutions. Adding some weight in certain areas of the bike, we also experimented within the engine, and conducted several tests to understand how the bike is performing. It’s not easy, because when the bike is running well, if you add 7kg, the bike feels different, especially in fast corners. We did some distribution to gather more data and obtained that data to work on this winter and see what could be the base for 2024.
