Much has been said about the future of Marc Márquez and even the man himself, as well as Honda, have taken advantage of the situation to grab the spotlight of the press. Álvaro Bautista spoke about the current moment and revealed what he would do himself.
To Moto.it, the rider who has been a leading figure in the World Superbike Championship, spoke about his compatriot and what he would do if he were in his situation: ‘If I were Marc, I would keep my commitment to Honda, but I would look for a competitive bike’.
Bautista recalled the recent less fortunate past, where Márquez was plagued with injuries and how Honda always kept his contract untouched: ‘They have always respected his contract, even when he was injured for a long time. On a professional and moral level, I would do the same’.
Still, the #1 understands the rider’s desire to have a bike that allows him to achieve different results, but he also understands the loyalty that he has shown to the manufacturer, which is mutual: ‘Marc Márquez wants a competitive bike to show his talent, but he has been with HRC for many years and it is very difficult to break a contract. If I were him, I would continue’.
