The last French GP, on Sunday, had Álex Rins as the only rider to score points and even though it was just one point it ended up being the best possible outcome, since Fabio Quartararo, in a good position, crashed. Still, it was not an ‘easy race’ for the Spaniard, said Massimo Meregalli, especially due to a big penalty.
‘Álex, on the other hand, had a very tough race, with braking issues and some slides – and it was even harder because of a Long Lap Penalty. He didn’t feel comfortable with the bike setup he tried this weekend, so he will go back to the drawing board and start anew,’ said the Italian in a team statement.
The Spaniard, who is in his first season with Yamaha, also had some issues on Saturday and did not finish the Sprint race, where he crashed.
The Spaniard was also the fastest in the tests that the manufacturer had on Tuesday and Wednesday in Mugello, Italy.
