Despite Yamaha going through a particularly difficult time in MotoGP, this does not deter Álex Rins, who is confident in a better future and an increase in competitiveness from the team. Crucial will be the contribution of Cal Crutchlow, as he explained, stating that this is just a less positive phase.
After the race in Austin, #42 reflected on the team’s current situation but remained hopeful: ‘It’s tough. We are gathering information and doing laps, giving our best. There is a crucial test where Cal [Crutchlow] will ride in the coming days in Barcelona. They are bringing things and we will see if he can help us improve the bike a bit. We are still far away, but we have to keep working on this bike. I believe in the project. It’s just a few races, but after that, we will be back’.
The Spanish rider also spoke about some logistical difficulties that will affect even the tests, where he would also be on board his M1 to add more information: ‘There are no [tests] until Jerez. We had planned to go to Montmeló, to Catalonia, to ride with Cal, but our bikes didn’t arrive. It’s too close for transportation’.
And he concluded, emphasizing the need to ‘accept’ and adapt to the moment: ‘It was frustrating on Friday. Then, as a rider, when you understand that it’s going to be tough and that you have to accept what you have and what you are doing, it becomes slightly different’.
