KTM AG is going through a challenging period that has already resulted in hundreds of layoffs. And Alex Hofmann is no longer collaborating with the Austrian manufacturer.
The former rider and current MotoGP TV commentator explained to SPEEDWEEK.com that his departure as brand ambassador is part of KTM’s cost-cutting efforts:
– It’s true. There was a close connection through my role as a brand ambassador. This agreement expires in 2025. It’s one of several measures KTM had to take to restore stability. It was a great time together, but understandable the current situation.
Hofmann was the first to ride the KTM RC16 MotoGP bike on track in November 2015, serving as one of the initial test riders alongside Mika Kallio. The German is also a close friend of KTM Motorsport Director Pit Beirer and has frequently ridden Mattighofen’s machines for TV presentations on track.
