The year 2020 had the particularity of being a year in which Marc Márquez and Álex Márquez shared a garage, albeit for a short time in practice, between #93’s injury, and in an atypical season marked by the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this reunion, the situation will be different, both guarantee.
Álex started by talking about this meeting, now with the colors of Gresini Racing: ‘I hope so, but it is also true that we were in a very different situation. I was a rookie and had many aspects to improve on, and I didn’t have much opportunity to get a lot of information from him. He was very fast, and I was step by step reaching the category, but now we are in a different situation. Both of us can take greater advantage of this situation.’
Marc, on the other hand, recalled that 2020 was the ‘worst year’ and that everything ‘changed’, but he emphasized that, despite that, both will have their individual work:
– Just like Álex said, we hope, or at least I hope, for a different year because it was the worst year and everything changed. The future said that we would meet again in another team and have fun during the year, but on the track, in the end, he will be with his chief engineer and his team, and I will be on my side of the garage working. The most important thing in this case for Álex is not to have high expectations because I am in the garage box. He has his expectations, he has to be realistic all the time and work to feel like a MotoGP rider for many years.
