Alessandro Botturi was the winner of the seventh stage of the Africa Eco Race on Tuesday, and came very close to the lead – which has been held by Jacopo Cerutti for several days.
The Yamaha Ténéré World Raid Team rider took 4h35m20s to complete the 470.16km special stage starting and finishing in Chami. He beat Cerutti (Aprilia Racing GCorse) by exactly two minutes, while Pol Tarres (Yamaha Ténéré World Raid Team) finished third, 12m52s behind. The top five also included Alessandro Ruoso (Twinsbike Racing Team/Yamaha) and Francesco Muratori (NSM Racing Team/Beta).
In the overall standings, Cerutti remains in the lead, but now Botturi is very close – just one minute behind. The Italian Yamaha rider surpassed his teammate Tarres to regain second place. Giovanni Gritti (RSMoto Racing Team Honda Oil) and Alexandre Vaudan (Casteu Trophy/KTM) had a more discreet stage, but remain fourth and fifth overall, respectively.
