Less than three years remain until the introduction of the new rules in the MotoGP World Championship. Aleix Espargaró is currently in his final season under contract with Aprilia and, with his future not yet defined, one of the options on the table is full-time retirement.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard did not hide his desire to ride the future bikes. Prior to the French GP, Espargaró mentioned that it is an ambition he has, in whatever role it may be – which means he does not rule out being a full-time rider at that time:
– I would, 100 percent. It is not all in my hands, but I would love to ride the 2027 specification bikes. I don’t know if as a permanent rider, as a test rider, I don’t know. It’s far away, it’s 2027. But I would really like it because it’s promising.
Throughout his career, the #41 has been essential in the development of Suzuki and Aprilia bikes, something he recalled: ‘You know how much I enjoyed and learned developing the Suzuki and Aprilia. So, I would love it because it’s a big change for a factory‘.
