Aleix Espargaró’s first season in motorcycle World Championships dates back to 2005, but retirement is not yet part of the immediate plans for the Aprilia rider.
In statements published by the site Crash.net, the Spaniard mentioned that, as long as he remains competitive, he does not see himself retiring at the end of 2024: ‘No, I don’t think next year will be my last. I am enjoying my life a lot, except for the incident in Qatar [the disagreement with Franco Morbidelli]. So, if I am fast, I think I will continue competing for some more time‘.
Espargaró’s current contract with Aprilia ends after the upcoming season. Therefore, if he wants to continue in MotoGP, he will have to renew with the team he has been a part of since 2017, or seek a new challenge in the paddock.
