Aleix Espargaró once again led the way in the second free practice session of the Catalunya MotoGP, promising to be one of the strong contenders for pole position in Barcelona qualifying. Miguel Oliveira finished in sixth place.
At the start of the session, the initial leader was Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati). Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) then took over the lead, with Martín dropping to eighth on the second flying laps… before climbing back to third.
The top positions remained stable for a few minutes, with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in second just 0.012s behind Espargaró. At that time, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) and Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Racing/Aprilia) were also in the top five.
The classification changed with 17 minutes to go, when Morbidelli moved up to third. The top three remained the same, with Espargaró leading the session ahead of Bagnaia, and Morbidelli in third.
Martín finished fourth and Acosta in fifth, while Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing) brought the second best Aprilia to sixth place. Quartararo concluded in seventh place.
