Even before the debuts – one as a rookie trying out a MotoGP bike for the first time – and the other as a new rider for a team, after many years of titles and in the same factory – Aleix Espargaró anticipated the debuts of Pedro Acosta and Marc Márquez, considering them ‘spectacular’.
On Sunday, after the race that gave the title to Pecco Bagnaia, the Aprilia Racing rider talked a bit about the debuts at the Valencia Tests, which were yet to happen: ‘Both debuts are spectacular. Marc with Ducati is going to fly. And Pedro, oh man, I like Pedro. Besides the role that Pol [Espargaró] will have as a test rider, he told me he will be somewhat involved in trying to help him adapt, he will do the Malaysia test with him’.
Regarding the rookie, Espargaró is excited to see how he will perform: ‘I like that. It doesn’t create uncertainty for me, but I am curious to see how long it will take for him to be out there tearing it up’.
Currently there are still 3h50m left for the end of the Valencia tests. At this moment Marc Márquez is in second place (21 laps completed), 0.298s behind Maverick Viñales, while Pedro Acosta is in 17th place (34 laps completed), and is 1.429s behind the leader.
