Joan Mir had a first season with the Honda factory team, but that didn’t ruin Alberto Puig’s confidence in the rider, saying that he is sure that the Spaniard can still fight for front positions if… Honda can provide the rider with a competitive bike.
In statements to Marca, the Honda Team Manager spoke about what the manufacturer’s main desire is: ‘What Honda is thinking now is to improve the bike’, before explaining that if that gives their riders a strong “weapon” to attack the track, they will fulfill it, with Mir in mind:
– We consider that if the bike improves, any rider we have can develop their potential and Joan Mir is a rider who is a two-time world champion, which makes him a rider who can be fighting for front positions.
And he added, emphasizing once again what the main goal is at the moment: ‘We are no longer thinking about renewing the riders before the start of the season. We are thinking about improving the bike, which is the starting point for everything’.
