Honda is evolving favorably and steadily, assures Alberto Puig, who was pleased with the growth in the Sepang tests. However, there is a specific problem that remains unresolved, and Johann Zarco is counted on to make the team even better.
The Team Manager of Joan Mir and Luca Marini’s team started by talking about the team and how it has grown, without forgetting an aspect that needs improvement: ‘We realized that we have improved, our power is better and the bike is lighter, the connection with the engine has improved. The steps we have taken are positive and we know where we need to improve because in long races we are better than in attacking lap times, and that is probably where we need to work more, that is the goal. But in terms of performance, the bike is faster and we have to try to make it more stable during the race’.
The manager then spoke about LCR Honda and how an effort is being made for the two teams to be closer than ever: ‘We always work together with LCR and probably the connection is even stronger this year. There are more people, we have allocated more resources, and we have to try to make the most of the concessions as much as we can’.
He also had some words about Zarco, whom he believes is a key piece for the team’s growth: ‘We will have an experienced rider like Johann in the other garage, and it is good to give him some support, which is not very easy, to have all the equipment for all the riders at the same time. But Honda and HRC are making a great effort for that, and we will see what the benefit of all that is’.
