The rider is in the last year of his contract with Repsol Honda, whose results and performances continue to be very weak. The Spanish official showed understanding of the fact that the rider is not pleased, but emphasized that the focus is on making progress with the RC213V:
– Usually a rider when things are not working out gets a bit… of course, I totally understand that he is not happy. But for now, to be honest, we are trying to focus, all of us – him, Luca [Marini] and the whole team – on trying to fix the bike’s problems.
As for Mir’s contract renewal, it will be a subject that will only start to be discussed in the coming weeks, Puig told MotoGP.com: ‘We haven’t started the discussion regarding the renewal yet. But of course, sooner or later, probably this month, in the summer, June, July, we will have to make some decisions and go from there‘.
