Honda was the least competitive constructor at the MotoGP Americas GP, marking another disappointing round for the Japanese despite all the effort put into the new RC213V. Team director Alberto Puig commented on the current form, which is far from Honda’s usual standards.
According to the site Motosan.es, in statements to MotoGP.com, the Spaniard did not shy away from the fact that the performance is poor, even speaking of some confusion:
– Our bike is not performing well. We made big changes, improvements, at least in theory. They are not visible on track and, at this moment, we are a bit confused. We are trying many different things, but we don’t see anything really convincing on track.
Puig also highlighted the dedication within Honda: ‘All I can say is that they are working hard in Japan. They are working on many different things. There are new people. They are not sleeping.’
After three Grand Prix races, Honda only has eight points in the Constructors’ Championship, not even fighting to enter the top ten in the races since Qatar. In the coming weeks, there will be important tests, starting with Jerez on Monday after the Spanish GP, which the manufacturer will try to take advantage of to make some progress.
