The Trackhouse MotoGP Team rookie was pleased with seventh place in the Sprint, but admits limitations for the main race. Despite improvements in some sections of the circuit, Ai Ogura continues to struggle in the third sector.

Ogura managed to finish seventh in the Qatar Sprint race, a result that left him satisfied, although he acknowledges his limitations for Sunday’s main race. The Japanese explained that he has managed to adapt his riding style in some parts of the circuit, but continues to identify problem areas.

‘I could adjust my riding style there [in turn 11]. What’s come from turn 10, bit better today [Saturday], but I still lose a lot in the sector three,’ he said, referring to the specific problems he faced at the Lusail circuit.

When asked about his satisfaction with the Sprint race result, the Japanese rider was pragmatic about the influence of tire choice on the race outcome: ‘Tire choice is part of game, of course. So seven is seven. So happy about that’.

However, Ogura does not nurture high expectations for the main race, remaining realistic about his possibilities against the competition: ‘But I cannot see that tomorrow [Sunday] I’m fighting with the guys in the front… Maybe 7th or 8th is the maximum I can do this Sunday,’ he concluded, establishing modest but achievable goals for Sunday’s race.
