The last four riders to participate in the second phase of Moto3 Americas GP qualifying have been found. Adrián Fernández led Q1 in Austin and advances, along with three other rivals.
After the first timed laps were completed, Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) was leading ahead of Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda), with Joel Esteban (CFMoto Valresa Aspar) and Joshua Whatley (MLav Racing/Honda) also in the top four.
This classification remained until the last five minutes, although not all riders had set times yet. Most riders saved two laps for these final moments of the session.
With about four minutes to go before the checkered flag, Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) moved up to fourth. At that moment, Whatley was out of the qualifying zone… and could not re-enter.
Fernández ended up being the fastest, finishing 0.157s ahead of Roulstone who improved on his last lap. Esteban and Lunetta finished third and fourth, respectively. Whatley was fifth, missing out on Q2 by 0.211s.
