Francesco Bagnaia finished the GP of the Americas in fifth place. The Italian rider never showed the pace of his rivals and ended up behind his teammate, Enea Bastianini.
In the debrief, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider talked about the sensations he had during the race at the GP of the Americas.
– ‘This morning I used the Sprint tire, just to put more laps on the used tires to understand the best choice for the race. Maverick and Pedro Acosta were on the medium and it worked better. My start of the race was good and I thought I would have a chance to fight for the podium, but at a certain point I started to have a lot of vibration on the left side of the front tire and it was very difficult to manage everything. I tried to manage everything and considering everything, we have to solve the problems. The problem is very similar to last season, so we have to solve the situation and I trust 100% in my team to solve this and return to fight for the top.’
Asked about the difficulties he had with the tires and about his teammate Enea Bastianini, Pecco replied: ‘Like Enea, I have never had this problem until now, but he had it yesterday. However, he still doesn’t know the bike as well as Frankie is also learning, but Enea was very fast today despite the problems.’
Bagnaia also spoke about the man of the moment, Pedro Acosta, praising the rookie Spaniard.
– ‘Acosta is impressing me even more than I was expecting. He is very strong, not afraid of tire wear, not afraid of anything. I only have praise for him, what he is doing with the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 is impressive.’
