One day separates Aaron Maré from victory at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge – the second round of the Rally-Raid World Championship (W2RC). The Hero MotoSports driver set the pace in the fourth and penultimate stage, held this Friday.
There were 231km timed, on a route that started and ended in Mezaira’a. Maré needed 3h21m41s to complete it, surpassing Jeanloup Lepan (Duust Rally Team/KTM) by 2m04s. Konrad Dabrowski (Duust Rally Team/KTM), the main pursuer of the overall leader, finished third, 5m09s behind. They were followed by Ross Branch (Hero MotoSports) and Jan Brabec (Strojrent Racing/KTM).
In the overall classification, with one stage to go, Maré leads with a comfortable margin of 10m14s over Dabrowski. Lepan remains in third, now 22m05s behind. Branch, in fourth, is already over 25 minutes away from the podium, with Brabec fifth, over an hour and a half behind the top.
