When it was expected that his future would be with Aprilia, Fabio Quartararo announced the renewal with Monster Energy Yamaha until the 2026 MotoGP season. In addition to being a very lucrative contract in terms of salary, he was convinced to give a vote of confidence to the project presented to him to return to good results.
In statements to Canal+, the 2021 world champion once again mentioned that he stayed with the Iwata manufacturer because of the project presented to him, understanding the skepticism… that he himself had: ‘My choice was to stay with Yamaha, not by default, but because of the project. Of course, I fully understand that people have doubts about my choice, because even I, a few months ago, was really prepared to go to another team‘.
There are rumors that Quartararo’s new contract for 2025 and 2026 will earn him a total of 25 million euros, but the rider assured that the financial aspect did not weigh as much in his decision:
– Let’s not fool ourselves, I think that as a rider I have value and Yamaha knows that very well. For me, it is an honor that a brand like Yamaha invests in me. I have been with them for several years. The main reason, of course, is the project for the coming years. In financial terms, I think that was a small part of what was taken into account in this contract.
