After saying that in this Qatar GP he opted for a different strategy from the other riders on track, regarding tire management and conservation, Marc Márquez also emphasized that riding the Ducati in Losail is ‘easier’ than doing it on a Honda. He also took the opportunity to draw attention to one of the main title contenders, Jorge Martín, despite Pecco Bagnaia being the reference.
The Spaniard was asked after the race about what it’s like to race with Honda and Ducati, and he stated: ‘Physically with Ducati it’s easier. When you’re at the front, when the bike doesn’t move as much, when you’re riding more precisely, physically you don’t need as much effort. At least we are more confident, there are moments when we can relax on the circuit’.
The long race was more difficult than the day before: ‘But it is true that this Sunday I had more difficulties with the bike than on Saturday. We made a small change that we thought could help us; but it’s experience, then we saw that it wasn’t the right direction. We have to continue investigating ways, with this base we have, to see which direction to take.’.
The Italian then revealed who is the main reference among the red bikes, as he followed Martin for a long time: ‘He was going fast. Above all, he was exiting the corners well, braking late, had the point of opening the throttle well. But in the end, this Sunday, the reference was Pecco, who was the one who was really fast. He took three seconds from us and it is with him that we have to see what he did best to learn, because he is the world champion, the favorite this year and the one who knows the Ducati better than anyone else’.
